#KeeleyCares Spotlight: Pedal the Cause

For the past twelve years, #KeeleyCares has been a proud supporter the groundbreaking and life-changing work of Pedal the Cause. This year’s Pedal the Cause Ride Weekend was held on September 23 – 25 and we were grateful to have our amazing Keeley’ns and their families come out to ride, volunteer, and support Pedal’s mission of creating a World Without Cancer. In 2022, Keeley’ns raised over $50,000 bringing our lifetime total to over $603,000!

Every year, we celebrate the lives and legacies of some inspiring Keeley’ns who battled cancer. Their spirit lives on in us every year during Pedal Weekend. John Christian Sr., an original Keeley’n who helped build the business, passed away on August 5, 2016. He battled cancer on and off for over 24 years and is the original inspiration for Team Keeley. Nick Porter rode and donated in Pedal the Cause every year until 2017 when he found out he had stage four colon cancer. Nick passed away on October 1, 2021, but his words to live by, ‘This is what it is. How do I change it or make it better?’ still serve as a driving force behind Team Keeley, encouraging us to do what we can, no matter the circumstances. Finally, Ed Hall, a long-time pillar of Keeley Construction, passed away on May 28, 2022. He served as a safety leader and is a large part of creating our E3 culture of providing exceptional customer service. His mentorship, guidance, and legacy live on in everyone who knew him.

We ride for every person that has been and will be diagnosed with cancer.

We ride for those who have lost their battle with cancer.

We ride because cancer still exists. We will continue to ride until cancer is dead and we live in A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER.

Founded in 2009 by Bill Koman, Pedal the Cause has been dedicated to using 100% of public donations to fund world-class cancer research. Over the past 14 years, Pedal the Cause has raised over $36 million dollars and funded 194 cancer research projects. The funding goes directly to Sitemen Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, providing hope for a cancer-free future.

We are so proud and grateful to support Pedal the Cause and we are already looking forward to next year!
